While
it's roots may very well go back to ancient Polynesian times,
it was the Beach boys of Waikiki who rediscovered this sport
in the 1940's and 1950's as a way to take pictures of the tourists
they were teaching to surf. Today SUP surfing is enjoying a
resurgence of popularity at all levels of surfing. Here we present some of the finest equipment available from the best craftsmen in the sport. The

Shaper Stu Kenson, began surfing in 1969 and shaped his first board in 1972. He later opened his own surfboard label called Evening Glass in 1987. Stu Kenson later went on to shape/design for Weber Surfboards, Rusty Surfboards, and Joel Tudor designs and has shaped boards for top professional surfers including Joel Tudor, Rochelle Ballard, Kevin Connelly, and Saxon Boucher. DICK BREWER SURFBOARDS Master Shaper/Designer, Dick Brewer has entered the world of SUP. New for 2008, Dick has introduced a new polyurethane/ polyester model to the Brewer Surfboards line. Dick has teamed up with legendary shaper Gary Linden to produce these finely crafted Sup's. Shaped from Walker Foam, and glassed with a standard 6 oz. lay-up, Gary has added a Volan wrap to beef up the rails. There boards weigh a bit more than the epoxies, but the added weight will enhance the stability and help to plow through choppy water. Theses boards will be a limited production run.

JIMMY LEWIS Jimmy has shaped boards for the top kiteboarders, surfers and windsurfers of the world. He had previously been shaping surfboards since 1968. The new epoxy sandwich construction has never been more appreciated than with the new Jimmy Lewis production line of stand up paddle boards. There are three sizes available from JL; the 11’7 for a faster paddle, the 11’0” for a great entry level board and the new 10’0” for the smaller surfer.
